Emerge Mentoring: A Movement for Change

Our Vision

About Emerge

Emerge Mentoring is for youth in foster care ages 14-17. Mentoring creates high-quality relationships with the potential to improve social and academic behavior and reduce high risk behavior. Our mentors meet one-on-one with their mentee at least 4 hours per month, which can be broken up in a schedule that is suitable for both the mentor and youth. We show the youth how much they matter by consistently spending time with them, listening, building rapport, and developing a trusting relationship.

Our mentors and youth participate in various activities such as hiking, going out to eat, going to the arcade, and more. We also offer life skills workshops including finances, cooking classes, career coaching, and other vocational skills for the youth.

For Mentors: Be the One Who Makes a Difference

Mentoring isn’t just about showing up — it’s about showing children they matter. As a mentor with Emerge Mentoring, you become a guiding light for foster kids navigating their toughest challenges.

These children face uncertainty and instability, often moving through multiple placements and enduring emotional hardships that many can’t imagine. They need someone who will listen to their stories, believe in their potential, and offer consistent support. That someone could be you.

Why Mentoring Works
Research shows that children with mentors are more likely to succeed in school, build healthy relationships, and develop self-confidence. For foster children, a mentor can be the first steady connection in a life filled with disruption. Your involvement can mean the difference between feeling hopeless and discovering the courage to rise above their circumstances.

Foster Care Families

Foster families are often the first to see the depth of a child’s struggles. You are the foundation of safety and compassion that helps children begin to heal. By joining the Emerge Mentoring movement, you can deepen your impact, providing not only the love and stability these children need but also access to mentorship that helps them thrive.

Why Foster Families Matter
As a foster parent, you are more than a caregiver — you are a pillar of healing and hope. You see the challenges foster children face every day and offer them the nurturing environment they need to rebuild trust and confidence. Partnering with Emerge Mentoring enhances that care, giving children access to mentors who will guide them toward brighter futures.

Help us Make a Difference

Your generosity helps us expand our reach, provide training for mentors, and offer life-changing support to foster children. Every contribution brings hope and healing to children in need.
